Sceptron & Video Walls
I found my way into content creation for concerts through my experience as a lighting technician. After touring with NF in 2018, I was brought on the following year to create video for the sceptron product on their show. Later, I expanded my involvement into the video walls and started working with more new clients.
Sceptrons
Sceptrons are pixel tubes that function as a one pixel wide video wall. They can be chained together to create designs and effects that incorporate the best of both lighting and video. It takes experience in both areas to pull it off right, but adds a whole new level when it is.

Sceptron Creation Process
Mapping
After recieving the final plots and renderings from the production team, I will sit down and create a map notated with information to help the techs on the show align the video I make with the physical product using a video server.

Content Creation
Once the map is approved, I create a transparent version that I can use as an overlay in premiere allowing me to see the most accurate representation of the rig possible while I create the video. This is where my experience in both video production and lighting design really shows through.
Previsualization
Once the video content has been rendered we can import the finished product into software that allows us to see it in 3 dimensions for the first time. The Lighting Designer will then use the same software to program the lighting allowing for the design to work in harmony.
Final looks
Lastly, once the show is prepped and ready, we finally get to see our hard work come together in real life. This also functions as a last chance to fix any issues that may appear on the rig that were missed or just not visible in previs. After this it's off for the first show!

Video Wall Content
While the setup for video walls is much more simple, this is where you get into the headspace of story telling. The goal here is to immerse the audience in the experience and invoke emotion without distracting from the performance itself.
This video was created to wrap up the set. It uses clips from previous videos throughout the set during the verses to bring the set full circle while escalating to a triumphant finish driving home the message of the show.
The base for this video was created by a different creator, and I was brought in to add energy to the base.
